This example is one of a five-part series of tutorials to help public users in central Ohio access community data through the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission. The audience included elected officials, public policy researchers, and grant writers for nonprofit organizations.
For this project, I developed the full curriculum, designed the templates, created base PowerPoint files, wrote the script for each slide, merged narration into the presentation, and created e-learning using iSpring professional. In our planning phase, I designed base templates for PowerPoint, Word, and the iSpring wrapper using fonts, colors, and branding that reflected my clients’ colors and styles.
Background
Through my longstanding contract with Community Research Partners, I created a full curriculum of online tutorials that were to have accompanied in-person instruction, too. Below is the learning blueprint I developed and proposed for this series that both clients approved:
Example written instructions
Below is an example of written instructions for a different tutorial in this series. I am highly trained in Information Mapping/structured writing, which modularizes instructions and information in ways that complement e-learning.
Tools I used
At the request of MORPC and CRP, I created the base files for these tutorials using PowerPoint. I used the iSpring application to produce interactive e-learning experiences from them, and I also created downloadable files with written instructions for each tutorial. One of CRP’s employees, Karissa, provided the narration via her iPhone and shared the audio files.
